EQUUS FERUS

Courtyard commission for The Harley Gallery, 2022

An encounter between a prehistoric wild horse and a modern day racehorse, these two lifesize sculptures mark the start of a walking trail between The Harley Gallery on the Welbeck Estate and nearby Creswell Crags, reflecting the equine history of the two sites.  The sculptures are constructed using salvaged architectural and agricultural metalwork found on site.  This includes a tractor-pulled hay rake; copper cylinders from central heating systems; gate hinges and finials; an oil drum and ventilation ducting.
